Newsletter from Room 508 January 10, 2011
Dear Families,
Homework going home today is due Tuesday January 18th, since we have no school on Monday in observance of Martin Luther King Junior Day.
Homework should take about 20 minutes a day, plus 20-30 minutes for reading log and book report work. Homework is practice of what students learn in school. If it consistently takes your child longer than this to complete homework, please let me know.
Students are bringing home a login and password card for Everyday Math Online Games. Students are encouraged to use the website to play and practice math skills. Go to: everydaymathonline.com to log in. If you have trouble using Firefox, try Safari or Explorer. The website address is on the back of student login cards.
Also available to families: Help your child build reading skills using a Treasures CD with all the stories from our Treasures textbooks. The CD is interactive, and will read the stories to your child. The stories can be used on book reports and reading logs. If you would like to check out a Treasures CD for your child to use at home, please send a note with your child, or come by the classroom, and I will sign one out to you. Care for the CD's the same as you do library books. You may check out a CD for one month at a time. You do not need the internet to use the Treasures CD.
