Dear Families,
Literacy homework for this week is to collect at least 5 jokes for our class joke book. Students can ask family members and friends for favorite jokes. If you need help, use the internet or joke books, or make up your own! I will put all of the jokes together in a book and everyone will get a copy.
We are making sock puppets this week, and will use the puppets to act out a play titled, "Smile, Mike."
ESL (English as Second Language) First Graders will be taking the ACCESS assessment Wednesday and Thursday, January 26 and 27. This is a very important assessment, so please make sure your child is well-rested and at school on time.

December 14, 2010, Fieldtrip and Winter Performance
Our class went to the Kimo Theatre to see The Nutcracker, and afterward visited the main library, downtown. That evening, our class performed The Chinese Tea Dance, part of The Nutcracker at the Helen Cordero Winter Performance. Students made hats and fans for their costumes. It was a full day, a very good day, too.
