On Wednesday, I put 12 eggs in the incubator in my first grade classroom. A wonderful volunteer came with eggs and chickens, and presented to the class the art of caring for chickens. As she was holding one of her hens, showing it's feet, one of my students commented, "Wow. Chickens look a lot like birds!" --just when you think you've covered everything...! :)
Our due date is April 13th.

Chicken Coop Construction, part 2
3-21-11 Here's how the coop is coming along. Sheeting is mostly up, nesting boxes built on East and West ends. The large opening will have two large doors to allow access to the inside.
Chicken Coop Construction
This is our chicken coop/toolshed now under construction in our backyard, began March 7th. The shed is on a concrete base, and the coop has two posts sitting on concrete pads. Our idea is to match the design to our house and other shed which are stucco, SW style.

February Fieldtrip to the Zoo
It was a perfect day for a fieldtrip. Feeding the ducks was a favorite. We had a great day!
