August 26, 2013 Classroom 104 Newsletter
To Students and Families,
from Mrs. Wise
Greetings,
Family Strand Members!
It
was awesome to see so many of you at the Manzano Mesa Picnic in the Park!
There was a great turn out,
and so much fun! Thank you to sponsors and families
for helping make it an evening to remember.
Congratulations
to all students, families and staff for successfully making it through our
first whole week of Kindergarten!
We
were so happy to have our sweet E.A., Miss Olina join us last week! If you have
not met her yet, please stop by and introduce yourself.
THIS WEEK’S LEARNING OBJECTIVES for Language Arts and
Math:
Language Arts
1. Students will continue working with the letters of our
names using lower case letters and capitalizing the first letter only.
2. Students will write and read lower and upper case

making words with them!
3. Students will continue to practice classroom routines and
behaviors.
Math

numbers correctly.
5. Students will identify the parts of a book: author,
illustrator, front cover, back cover, numbered pages.
6. Students will listen for, and identify rhyming words in
books.
7. Students will practice SSR and Buddy Reading.
COMPOSITION BOOKS Thank you for responding so quickly
and furnishing composition books for the class! We have what we need, at least
for now.
SCHOLASTIC BOOK ORDERS
are due Friday.
Orders can be made online
with a credit card, or you may bring cash, check, or money order (payable to
Scholastic Book Clubs) with your completed order form, to me. The first order
is due on Friday, August 30th.
Initial Kindergarten
Assessments will begin this week. I will assess your child’s reading and math
skills.
When we are all finished, I’ll be happy to share your child’s results
with you.
Have a Super-D-Dooper Week!
With Love,
Mrs. Wise
